Fernanda Covert is a doctoral student in Clinical Psychology at the Hawai’i School of Professional Psychology. She has pursued coursework towards a Postbaccalaureate Certificate in Clinical Psychology from Fielding University and holds a Master of Science in General Psychology from GCU and a Bachelor of Science in Psychology from Universidade São Judas Tadeu. Her research endeavors have led to conference presentations on topics such as emotional regulation at the Association for Psychological Science (APS), psychological evaluations in immigration cases of asylum seekers at the American College of Forensic Psychology (ACFP), and Autism Spectrum Disorder. Currently, Fernanda is participating in a research project examining access to behavioral healthcare for children with autism in Hawai’i.

In the academic arena, Fernanda contributes as a Graduate Student Teaching Assistant at the Hawai’i School of Professional Psychology, supporting students in neuropsychological assessment and clinical interviewing courses. She is a student-member of several professional organizations, including the American Psychological Association, the Association for Psychological Science, the American College of Forensic Psychology, and the Hawai’i Psychological Association.

In clinical settings, Fernanda brings extensive experience in conducting forensic psychological evaluations for the local court system and working with military families. Additionally, she has a strong background as a bilingual outpatient and in-home clinician. Fernanda excels in conducting comprehensive assessments and applying research-based interventions tailored to the unique needs of children and families. Fernanda is committed to providing culturally competent care to diverse populations. She is a board member of the first Autism Support Group for Children with Special Needs in Portuguese in Boston and volunteers for the Special Olympics in Hawai’i.

As a Quality Assurance Clinician at Embrace Pathways, Fernanda ensures high-quality patient care by reviewing clinical records for accuracy and regulatory compliance and by providing valuable documentation feedback to clinicians and supervisors.

Originally from Brazil, Fernanda is fluent in Portuguese and English, with basic proficiency in Spanish. In her personal time, Fernanda enjoys spending time with her family, reading, going to the beach, hiking, volunteering, and practicing yoga and Pilates.
